| BRIGHTWELL BALDWIN, Oxfordshire Brightwell Baldwin is one of those off-the-beaten-track villages that can be easily transformed into a film set. The church was used for two separate Midsomer funerals. “The Glitch” (episode 70, series 12) has location shots filmed in the village. The main character is George Jeffers, who is concerned that his Kernel Logic software has a glitch and is potentially dangerous. His estranged wife Melanie and son Tom live in a house in Brightwell Baldwin (pictured here). It is where we see Tom cycling past the church and throwing down his bike as he arrives at the house. Later he is seen arguing with his mother at the same house. This episode is one which uses a particularly large number of other locations, including Turville, Hambleden, Waverley Abbey, Wellington College, Penn and Stoke Poges. At the end, Barnaby is seen causing havoc as he drives a classic rally car through a cycle race to catch the killer. Other episodes with scenes filmed in Brightwell Baldwin include: Destroying Angel, Judgement Day, Talent for Life. The Blue Badge Guides from Midsomer Tours (Bobbie, Debs and Graham) are all fans of the series. We all live in the area and know the locations and episodes well.
